Josh is one of six dogs I met in Spain that I want to help find their forever homes.

I have been helping the Spanish dogs at Noahsarc for 15 years. Although Starfish mainly helps UK dogs these days, Noahsarc is still very much part of the Starfish family. I visit twice a year to spend time helping the charity and assessing a few dogs that we can bring back to the UK.

Often, these are dogs who have grown beyond the cute puppy stage or older dogs who have been overlooked. When I return next April, I really don’t want to see Jakey, Tessa, Josh and Billybob all grown up and still waiting for their families. They are beautiful souls, all for different reasons, and far too special not to have families of their own.

Our dogs don’t arrive in the UK and get delivered to their adopters like Amazon parcels! They come into Starfish foster care first, allowing them time to decompress after their long journey. You will meet them just as you would one of our UK dogs, with all human and furry family members involved, so we can make sure it is the right match for everyone.

So, why little Josh? Because he is such a lovely boy! If you wanted to describe him, a miniature Labrador comes to mind. Another little soul who was thrown away like rubbish in Spain, he was lucky enough to be picked up by Noahsarc, where he has been loved and kept safe. I’m surprised he was never adopted as a young puppy. He is a happy little soul with lots of friends he loves to play with, and he is lucky enough to sleep in the house at the centre with Keiron, the kennel manager.

Josh is a fairly confident little soul. I have been out and about with him quite a few times now, and although he is so young, he really does have an old head on his shoulders. I have spent time with him in lots of different situations and, although naturally cautious at times for such a young dog, he handles new experiences very well, including the beach, cafés, shops and the vets. I’ve caught most of these adventures on the videos below.

Josh is, quite simply, such a nice dog. I wouldn’t describe him as particularly high energy, although he is still young and developing. I think he would do better with a doggy friend and someone who has the time to guide him through the rest of his puppyhood. He has all the makings of a lovely, confident little dog.

I’m not sure what else I can say about Josh. He has never done anything wrong. He is simply a dog who had a bad start in life, was lucky enough to find himself somewhere safe where he is loved and living his best life, but now it’s time for him to move on and find a forever family of his own.

Josh is well socialised with both people and other dogs. His current home is in a fairly remote setting, surrounded by lots of other dogs and lovely volunteers who help care for them and take them out walking. What he hasn’t had as much opportunity to experience is everyday life out in the wider world. However, I have now taken him out and about four times, and each time he has absolutely smashed it, as you can see from the videos below.

Josh will be fully vaccinated and microchipped, and his blood tests will be completed before travelling to the UK. He is too young to be neutered, so his adopter will be expected to arrange this once he has finished growing and maturing. He cannot be homed with an entire dog.
