Welcome to Starfish Dog Rescue

Starfish Dog Rescue is a small, dedicated voluntary organisation based near Stroud in Gloucestershire.

We are a close-knit team of experienced local volunteers, many of whom have spent years involved with larger, well-known organisations. Over time, we felt drawn to creating something more personal — a rescue where every decision is made with the dogs at heart, and where each one is truly known and understood. Together, we’ve built a trusted and supportive team, working side by side for many years.

The dogs who come to us are often those who need that little bit extra — the overlooked, the vulnerable, the young and the old. Every dog is welcomed into our homes and cared for as one of our own, in a calm, loving environment where they can feel safe, begin to trust again, and simply be a dog. It’s a world away from kennel life, and for many of our dogs, it makes all the difference.

Because our dogs are cared for in individual foster homes, we are not a rescue centre that can be visited to walk around and view dogs. Instead, we take the time to match each dog carefully with the right home, arranging meetings by appointment once an application has been completed. This helps us ensure the very best outcomes for both our dogs and their future families.

As our dogs live closely alongside others in a home setting, we are not able to take in dog-aggressive dogs. However, if you find yourself in this difficult situation, please do reach out through our contact page — we will always do our best to help or guide you towards the right support.
