Bella – 4-year-old Shih Tzu

Being fostered in an adult home in Gloucestershire with other dogs.

Bella came into our care when her owner was no longer able to care for her properly and was worried she was pregnant. She arrived extremely stressed and worried, so we arranged emergency foster with Aunty Sarah before she moved to her permanent foster home with Aunty Ali.

Slowly, Bella began to relax and trust again, and it has been lovely to watch her transformation. She has since had her puppies and has been an absolutely wonderful mum.

Bella is naturally shy and nervous with people she doesn’t know and isn’t the type of dog who will immediately welcome you with open paws!However, once she trusts you, you have a friend for life. She even remembered Aunty Sarah when she visited a couple of weeks later.
She is good with other dogs, although she can be protective of her foster mum, and she walks beautifully on a lead. She is still a little nervous when out and about.

Bella has had a difficult few years, including losing her first owner, having a previous litter and losing an eye following an ulcer. We believe this has understandably made her reserved and cautious with new people.

When her mummy duties are finished, we feel Bella will be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home with experienced owners who understand that she will need time, patience and space to trust them.

Once Bella gives you her heart, we think she will be very special indeed. ❤️
